    the Debian developers advise that you do not download & install the drivers from the manufacturers you will have to un-do whatever that script did and then use the official method. is right - you should use the method in the Debian wiki you need the kernel headers as well to build the NVIDIA module.

  • The "no screens found" error means no drivers.
  • black screens, but you can get back to the Xorg's virtual terminal which is still active. Trying to CTRL-ALT-n from within Xorg will result in blank. You can, however, "type blind" and reboot.

  • The FreeBSD forums do mention a similar issue but I cannot get xorg to use the radeonkms driver in order to try the workaround. So currently I stuck at a lower screen resolution and without hardware acceleration.
